Hibernation of your pool

What is winterising a pool and why is it important? The main reason to winterise your pool is to make the most of the water and not have to empty the pool in winter and then fill it up in summer.

This process is beneficial for the environment and for your wallet, it is advisable if you want your pool to be clean all year round.

The process of hibernating the pool starts when the temperature is below 15 ºC.

STEPS TO FOLLOW TO HIBERNATE THE POOL

  1. Use a good brush and a descaling product to clean your pool, scrub the walls well and also use the pool cleaner.
  2. In the winter it is also important to keep the pH value between 7.2-7.6
  3. Also do a shock chlorination
  4. Leave the filter running.
  5. After the first 4 steps, the next day add a winteriser:
  6. Leave the filter running for 8 hours for a perfect distribution of the product in the water.
  7. The following day, carry out a complete washing of the filter.
  8. If you live in an area with cold climates, it is advisable to lower the water level in the pool below the skimmers, empty the pipes and the filter, and place an object on the surface of the pool to cushion the pressure of the ice, such as a hibernation float.
  9. In moderate climates, we recommend running the filter regularly, whenever possible.
  10. Above all, don’t forget to cover the pool with a good cover.
  11. It is important to repeat the addition of the wintering product every 3 months.
  12. Washing the filters (saturated filters): If the filter pressure gauge is located in the red band, it means that the filter is saturated. Backwashing will be necessary.
  13. Heavy rainfall: In case of heavy rainfall, a shock treatment with DICHLORO (10 g/m³) is necessary. After circulating the water for half an hour, the free chlorine and pH should be checked
